Zhur. strukt. khim.12/8/2023 ![]() ![]() The structure of two intercalates with space group R3-bar m and lattice parameters a=3.58131(6)A, c=57.752(6)A, and a=3.58791(8)A, c=29.6785(17)A is reported, corresponding to the stages 2 and 1, respectively, of Na environment of the central atom. Sodium intercalation compounds of HfNCl have been prepared at room temperature in naphtyl sodium solutions in tetrahydrofuran and their crystal structure has been investigated by Rietveld refinement using X-ray powder diffraction data and high-resolution electron microscopy. Spectra of all type C (cubic) are similar with each other, with a band occurring at 535 to 570 cm¹, while type A (hexagonal) and type B (monoclinic) give spectra much different from those of type C. HfBe/sub 2/ has an AlBe/sub 2/-type lattice HfBe/sub 5/ has a CaZn/sub 5/-type lattice Hf/sub 2/Be/ sub 17/ has a U/sub 2/Zn/sub 17/-type lattice and HfBe/sub 13/ has a NaZn/sub 13/ -type lattice. Rare earth oxides give individualistic infrared spectra in the intermediate region 800 to 240 cm¹. An increase in the Be content of the Hf- Be compounds decreases the distance between the Be atoms (HfBe/sub 2/, 2.179 HfBe/sub 5/, 2.17 Hf/sub 2/Be/sub 17/, 2.14 and HfBe/sub 13/, 2.07) and increases the distance between the Hf atoms. In all cases the lattice parameters more » of the Hf- Be compounds are smaller than those of the Zr compounds. HfBe/sub 2/, HfBe/sub 5/, and HfBe/ sub 13/ have the same structure as the respective Zr compounds Hf/sub 2/Be/sub 17/ has a structure of related type. The enthalpies of crystallization of LiNO3 and LiNO33H2O from aqueous solutions at 25☌, measured by a calorimetric method and determined from the previously published data on the concentration dependence of the enthalpy of solution, are reported.
